Introduction

   For decades, there have been numbers of critical debate around a social issue named “Gay-marriage legalization” in all over the world. The reasons come from differences in religions, public recognition and traditional believes which cannot be changed in short times. Moreover, the conservatism in Asian countries is still too strong, making life of LGBT in a large part of the world still sinks in the dark and unhappiness.  However even the final way out for the problem has not achieved completely but at least several countries have allowed homosexual couples getting married or under a relationship named “civil unions”.  This piece of writing will discuss about reasons why same-sex marriage should be acceptable in the modern society.

Understanding "homosexuality" and the recognition of Gay Rights

     Firstly, it should be repeated that “Homosexuality cannot be classified as an illness but a variation of sexual function created by a certain arrest of sexual development”. People usually think that homosexual men always have softer voices while lesbians’ body shape is masculine. But actually not always some secondary sexual characteristics resemble the opposite sex. There are also some assumptions that people are gay because they choose to be gay but it is totally wrong. Because of the direction of our attraction is not something that can be changed quickly like switching lights on and off, so mostly the formation of homosexuality comes from many different factors (for example: significant negative experiences from childhood, family situation, moral training a child receive, etc.)

      As being gay is very natural so preventing people from living with their true sexuality is such a violation of religious freedom. They have the right to be protected by law and hold all the interests like other straight people including getting married. The relationship or marriage of homosexual couples cannot be discriminated, and then there have been more countries that recognize that fact and moving up to accept it .

     Even some nations have not changed their rule yet, but actually their law still give the protection to LGBT community. In the USA, any criminalizing homosexual conduct may be listed to be unconstitutional which bring more support to LGBT community. Or in London where a mayor step named Boris Johnson took a campaign to pull Anti-Gay advert from Bus. All of these actions take significant part in proving that being gay is such a natural phenomenon in society. So, asking yourself that if one of you family members or your friends suddenly came out and announced that they are Gay, you would get shocked. Even you cannot accept the fact then trying to convince them to turn back "normally" but you would never want to see other people hurting your beloved family or friends. So why do not you do a small favour to LGBT including your by accepting their existence in society, giving them a chance to reach a true happiness?

      Here is the speech of United Nations's General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon calling for countries all around the world stop the discrimination of homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenders. For the very first time, the leader of the largest international organization has launched a clear message showing his support to LGBT community. It is also the view of the UN by putting more actions to solve the discriminated problem.

Gay-marriage do not harm the birth and death rate

    There has been idea about the legalization of homosexual marriage can bring society to the imbalance in birth and death rates. They believe that it would lead the world to the destruction of humanity or the problem of “cloning”. However, these arguments seem to be ridiculous because homosexual rate is only 10% of the world’s population. A recent statistic also states that gay people makes up 1-4% of the population in most USA cities. Therefore, the authorization of gay-marriage does not cause any bad effect to the community but also do good contribution. If preventing gay marriage, homosexual people have to marry a person that they do not love to hide their secret. As an obvious outcome, these marriages without love would lead to many regretting result. When people have freedom to choose their partners, they turn happier then be willing to work harder for a better society.

    “Marriage” is just a concept which is made up by human. They define “marriage” as the commitment between a man and woman, and then assign other purpose like procreation to it. But actually, all these understanding only are theoretical and cannot always be applied into this modern society. When society changes and get developed, many concepts turned older and outdated, including marriage model. As humans have created this concept so they have the responsibility to make some changes in helping it becomes better and more appropriate.

Gay parents can raise good children

    Putting into the debate is the suspicion about the development of children who are raised by Gay parents. However, many recent researches have proved that children of same-sex parents can do as well as children growing up in heterosexual parents’ homes. There are no differences in intelligence or any type of psychiatric disorders, well-being, peer relationships, or even parental stress. However, the family structures can bring several advantages to children with gay parents. They do better in discipline, self-esteem, and having less psychosocial difficulties at home and at school as they shared equal chore, is educated well about respect, play with both girl’s and boy’s toys. Moreover, gay-parents always pay more attention to the development of their kids; try to become best friends of them. They also guide their kids to become useful people to society. The research also announced that children of gay couples are no more likely to become gay than other children.

Conclusion

  

   To sum up, “marriage” is such a sacred term in turning two persons become one. It stands for love, trust and responsibility between couples, including homosexual people. Moreover, the human equal rights give gay people the right to get married, to desire for happiness. As being homosexual is not an illness, and the marriage between them do not harm society and later generation, so preventing same-sex marriage can be listed as an offence.

   Since there are huge numbers of gay people cannot live with their true sexuality, always have to hide it, the changing marriage law could affect these people’s life in a positive way. Therefore, for the wellbeing of homosexual community and human conscience, the same sex marriage should be allowed.
